Do you unbutton your suit jacket when sitting down? Jacket protocol!

Do you unbutton your suit jacket when sitting down  at a dining table or boardroom meeting table?

Yes is the answer. But, before you unbutton all buttons, remember it is just the bottom button that is unbuttoned.   This will allow for the jacket to vent and lay neatly without bunching.  If the jacket has one button keep it buttoned.  Never remove your suit jacket unless the person you are with removes theirs first and even then don’t feel obligated to remove yours.  The jacket completes the clothing attire.  There can be exceptions the rule regarding jackets: if it is extremely warm in the room you may want to remove your jacket.  Warning, think twice about this, for you may be embarrassed by removing the jacket and exposing perspiration staining.

The unbuttoning of the suit jacket is a great Dress for Success tip. Thank you Armida!
